My Disability Plus is pleased to announce its 4th Disability Inclusion Festival 

16th November to 25th December 2024

When we launched our first festival three years ago, many wondered why we commemorate Disability History Month and the International Day of People with a Disability. Since then, more people than ever before have recognised and commemorated the day, including the parliament.

- 1 in 4 people experience mental health issues at some point in their life

- The cost to the UK economy of mental health is £118 billion

- 66% face anxiety issues about heating their home

- 42% of young people 16-24 face anxiety issues

- 1 in 6 young people face mental health issues in primary school

Wellness Week

This year's mental health awareness week 15-21 May 2023 was launched with a Well-Being Festival of events and activities.  This year's national theme is anxiety. So many people have their lives restricted by panic/anxiety issues. We have online and offline events to support people's mental health, addiction support, inclusive especially  vulnerable groups such as LGBT community, women, youth, and elderly who can fall through the cracks in support provisions

Well Being Festival programme

1) Monday 15th May 2-4pm 

  • Managing anxiety workshop (on zoom)

  • Helping those with anxiety issues to better manage the situation and live a full life.

2) Tuesday 16th May 10am-12 noon 

  • Wellbeing conference & workshop (on zoom)

  • Will hear from a range of speakers supporting mental health as well as lived experience from those suffering from anxiety and suicide

3) Wednesday 17th May 2pm-4pm

  • Mens Health workshop The Beacons

5) Friday 19th May 11am - 1pm 

  • Over 50s Soup, Sandwich and Blether event,

“Self care and seek support is so important. Research has now shown that loneliness and isolation for example is the equivalent of smoking 10 cigarettes a day. So please take care, self care getting help and support this week”.
